Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Tag

I'm baaaaack!  So sorry for the long absence from blogging.  November + December = tons of grading, exams, late hours at school, and complete and total exhaustion for most high school teachers.  Thanks to those of you who follow me and comment on my regular posts on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter, though.  I try to post a couple of things each week to let everybody know that I'm still here (and still obsessed with makeup).

To get back in the beauty blogging swing of things, I thought I'd start with a tag that I read on fellow Atlanta beauty blogger Elle Sees fabulous blog (Be sure to visit her blog and follow her on Facebook and/or Instragram.  She takes BEAUTIFUL photos, and her blog is full of beauty reviews, DIY projects, thoughtful and reflective posts, and so much more.) called "The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger."

1.  Name a beauty regimen that you rarely do.

I would say masks and other special treatments.  I know that I should do them more often, but I'm usually so tired/lazy at night that I forget to.

2.  Do you wash your makeup brushes regularly?

Yes, I sure do!  I wash my "regular" brushes (ones used with dry products - blushes, eyeshadows, etc.) every 3-4 weeks and brushes used with creams, liquids (foundations, concealers) every weekend.  If I'm going to do someone else's makeup, though, I wash them the day before and lay them out to dry so that they'll be clean and ready.  Still loving and using the Masters Brush Cleaner that I blogged about a couple of months ago.  My next beauty purchase is going to be a Benjabelle Brush Tree, but for now I just dry them on a big towel like this:

3.  How long will you last with chipped nail polish?

About a hot minute.  I can handle a little tip wear for a day or two, but a major chip?  It's all coming off!  Chipped nails are a beauty pet peeve of mine.

4.  How long will you put off buying/replacing a beauty product if you run out of it and need more?

Confession - I have SO MUCH STUFF that I rarely use things up completely.  (I know you're shocked...) But, if it's a total "essential" (my Anastasia Brow Whiz brow pencil in Medium Ash, any kind of bi-phase eye makeup remover, and MAC Bombshell lipstick to name a few) I usually make sure I have a backup ready when I see that I'm about to run out.

5.  What is your worst beauty habit?

Another confession - sometimes I go to bed without taking off my makeup. :(  Maybe my recent purchase of a gazillion Kirkand Makeup Wipes at Costco will encourage  me to not do this anymore, though...

6.  Name something non-beauty related that you regularly put off doing.

My students can answer this one - grading essays!!  I wouldn't say that I "put off" grading them, though.  It's not like I'm ever sitting around eating bon bons and tweeting (I say this to them all the time, actually.  Them - "What's a bon bon?"  "YOU have a Twitter page??!!"), just wasting my time on frivolous activities.  It's just that of all of the things I have to do to at school and in my personal life, grading essays just always seems to fall at the bottom of my to-do list.  Not that they're not important, but being ready to teach each day and in the weeks to come, helping students after school, and then taking time for myself, my family, and my friends are things that are just NOT going to be put below grading essays on the totem pole of priorities.  Now, grading essays *can* have its entertaining moments, though, like this one:

Apparently the famous Guy de Maupassant short story is NOT about a lost piece of jewelry but about a guy with an essential missing body part...
7.  When going out somewhere, do you leave getting ready for the last minute?

Never.  I have always loved the ritual of doing my hair and makeup, and I relish in drinking my morning coffee and taking my time to "primp" while listening to podcasts, morning talk shows, or YouTube videos while I do so.

8.  Can you commit to spending bans?

This is something that I have never done, but 2014 is going to be my year to try this.  I am going to try to do a no-buy month or two this year, but have not yet decided which months those will be.  January, maybe?  No time like the present!

9.  How organized is your makeup collection?

In the words of Dr. Evil, welcome to my underground lair...

My mom found this at a consignment shop.  Now THIS is a big girl vanity!
Lipsticks, lip glosses, eyeshadow palettes, eye primers, eye liners, eye brushes, and brow products.
Face products (foundation, powder, blush, etc.), lip liners, face brushes, and hair care
Found these candle holders at Hobby Lobby and thought they would make great brush and lip/eye pencil holders!
Alright now, big girls...I tag YOU and would love to read your responses to these questions as well.  Have a Happy New Year, everyone!
