DIY Perfume Tray plus recent Ipsy bag and Ulta haul

In my most recent fragrance posts (One about a favorite indie perfume company plus lots of "deep" revelations about perfume and another on my fall/winter fragrance favorites), you may have noticed my gorgeous (if I do say so myself) perfume tray.  After months of searching for the perfect beautiful tray to showcase my fragrances, I did a little research and found out that I could make one myself!  There are a bajillion tutorials online for how to do this, but it is SO simple.

First, find a picture frame that you like (I bought this one at Homegoods, but also check out TJ Maxx, Marshalls, and Tuesday Mornings for great selections of inexpensive framges) and remove the stand on the back.  Sometimes it will just pop off with a little tug (the backing is usually made of cardboard covered in velvet or some other sort of fabric), or you might have to use an Exacto knife.

Next, find some pretty but thick/substantial paper (I love scrapbooking paper and I found this pack at Big Lots for $4!) to use as a background (pretty fabric would work as well).

After you've opened the back of the frame and taken out the paper insert that comes in between the glass and the back, and put the paper on top of your decorative scrapbook paper or fabric.   Cut your paper or fabric just a hair larger than the paper insert, as you don't want it to be able to slide around inside of the frame.  Then, place it inside of the frame just as you would a photograph and replace the back of the frame.  Last, buy some of these rubber pads (you can find them at arts and crafts stores) and put them on the underside of the frame (one on each corner is sufficient) so that your new vanity tray won't scratch the surface of your furniture or slide around.
Viola!  You now have a beautiful vanity tray to use for perfume, jewelry, or other knick-knacks.  These make great birthday and Christmas gifts, too!
Also, I am happy to announce that Ipsy and I are no longer in a fight, and we are working on reconciling our relationship, as is evidenced by my awesome October Ipsy bag:

The Buxom lipgloss in Dolly and Zoya polish in Mason ALONE were enough to make me give Ipsy another chance, but the yummy Delectable Hand Cream in Strawberries & Creme was another favorite from this month's bag.  OK, Ipsy...I'm giving you a second chance!  Click here to go to the Ipsy site and subscribe. (This is my referral link, which you can use if you like, but you don't have to! :) )

Lastly, some of you may have received the 20% off coupon from Ulta that was good in high end brands as well as drugstore.  (I guess this was a "thank you" for the insane amount of shopping that I do there??)  Whenever I get a discount on high end items, I always go for palettes and limited edition items. Here's what I picked up:
I have been coveting the Lorac PRO Palette for some time now, and so far I am loving its versatility and rich, pigmented shades (review to come!).  I have also wanted to try a Bare Minerals Moxie lipgloss, too, so this limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness duo in Tough Cookie and Survivor was my choice.  They have the same cool, minty feeling as the Buxom glosses do but a thicker, more pigmented texture.  Also grabbed one of my favorite OPI polishes in Bastille My Heart plus a mini Body Shop Peach Body Butter, which has a heavenly texture and long-lasting fresh, juicy scent.

Were you happy with your Ipsy bag this month?  Any other sample subscription services that you think I should try?  Anyone else have an Ulta haul, too?

Thank you for reading, and have a beautiful weekend!
